UNI DAYS....

Ah... uni days are here. the realization that you are not that young, goofball you used to be kicks in.. it sucks cause you realise that you cant afford to goof off and play around anymore.. no room for error as its the stepping stones of your future.. crap.. classes just started today and we already have a quiz this afternoon. the worst part is, it carries marks for the total assesment this semester..
what to do... i asked for it.. acheiving my dream is more important to me. i dont care how hard it is, only what i get out of it.. its kinda like my recipe for the future

Talking about Recipes.. heres one for today..

RECIPE FOR SUCCESS.. haha..

actually...

MOMS MANGO LASSIE

STUFF..
i) a couple of mangoes, pitted and sliced(peel of the skin or it will be bitter)
ii) yogurt(plain)
iii) sugar
iv)crushed ice

HOW??

for evry cup you plan to make, use 1/2 mango , 2-5 tsb of yogurt(5 if you really love it), 2-3 tsb sugar.

mix the sugar and yogurt in a blender until fine and add the mangoes... MAKE SURE NOT TO TURN THE MANGOES INTO A FINE PULP... you want some chunks in there.. the ice is mainly for decor and final touches.. you dont really need it, bot avoid putting it in the blender. you will spoil the lassie..

STOP COUNTING THE CALORIES AND ENJOY WHAT YOU EAT... REMEMBER, YOU LIVE TO EAT, (OR SOMETHING TO THAT EFFECT)

ARLO!!!!

ARLO!!! long time since i last posted. ive been quite busy lately.. universit application and all.. life is great at uni, but take my word for it, the food sucks.. the uni is HUGE.. but not fully completed.. i wish i had a camera so that i can get pics for you guys.. i found some awesome places to take a decent photo there.. but since my salary is going 100% to my studies, i cant have one right now.. no matter.. thats what friends are for.. recipe for today...

FRIED RICE>MY STYLE...

Ingredients>servings
rice> as much as you want..
carrots(cubes or short rectangular slices..)>around 1 carrot for a 3 person dish, so feel free to use how much you want
lettuce>a handful for one person(chopped)
onions> i use 1/2 for a 3 person serving( coarsely diced)
chicken stock(granules or powder)> up to you

first, pot a couple teaspoons oil in a pan and brown the onions.
once they are brown, add the carrots and lettuce with salt(to your taste)
leave them for a while and then add the chicken stock.
mix a few seconds and immediately add the rice or the stock will burn horribly.
at this stage, add a few chopped chillies if you can stand the heat and serve with scrambled egg. (if you dont like chillies, crush pepper and mix in with the eggs..)

Bah Humbug..

Favorite word of a scrooge.... it sucks when you cant do things in life just cause you cant afford a small part of it which is usually the most essential part... the plane trip for parachuting, the wood for a guitar case, the paper for a painting, the petrol for driving.... everything is money. i mean, its a great way of making sure that wealth is accounted for, but that is a problem in itself. wealth usually comes to those who have some of it in the first place. it just accumulates as they live on. the poor, however, do not possess much wealth at all. whilst the rich have wealth in forms to trade, such as money, gold and valuable assets, the poor and middle class mostly have wealth in forms valuable to them, and only them. pots for cooking, a beat up car for ferrying the kids around, clothes, a small house only big enough for the family and nothing more, these things are of high value to the owners, but to others, they are just .... there.. things.. stuff.. maybe even junk. i am not an economist, in fact, my qualifications fall far beyond that of the economic field. but i have a heart, and i have sorrow. i myself have felt the pain of being less than wealthy. but thanks to my dad and mum, we live comfortably enough. .. my prayers are always for those who cant enjoy their life. someday, they will reap the fruit of their labour.. god bless...

Im kinda depressed, so , no recipe for today... Sorry guys...

Dang, this years CNY was really dull. i didn't even have the chance to go visiting properly. for some reason, most people i know seem to be in a real sombre. i guess its the aftermath of the results. we really had high hopes and it was all screwed at the end.. many of us are in a real tight spot.. only a few choices were available and most ended up doing a degree totally off-course their original plans. i was one of the lucky ones. i just touched my entry requirements. and i was supposed to be an excellent student. but i say that when life laughs at you, you laugh at something else.. below is the funniest thing i have ever seen.. enjoy!!!

it is really fun to see people running around... the look on the dudes smoking is priceless... enjoy!!!

Todays recipe

Indian Style Chicken Curry

chicken chopped medium size( as much as you want.. not too much or too little.. half the pan is enough)
tumeric powder (replaces curry powder and makes the curry less spicy for you weak tounges..)
curry powder (dont hope to be making curry without it)
1 cinnamon stick ( brroken small small...)
2 peice star anise
small potatoes (3-4, the more, the thicker the curry)
water
2 onions
1/2 garlic bunch (about 6 cloves)
cooking oil
salt
2 tomatoes
curry leaves..

HOW TO PREPARE INGREDIENTS

1) slice onions into rings and use knife and palm to crush the garlics a little
2) divide potatoes into 8 pieces, same with tomatoes
3) break star anise and cinnamon sticks

MAKING IT

1) get a medium depth pan, around the size of a rice cooker pan..
2) pour in a couple tablespoons of oil and let it boil
3) put in star anise, onions, cinnamon sticks, curry leaves and garlic.
4) once the onions caramelize a bit, add the potatoes and chicken. keep mixing it together until a nice smell wafts by..
5) VERY IMPORTANT IF YOU CANT STAND SPICYNESS
add 1 tsb curry powder and 1 1/2 tsb tumeric powder. (chopped lemongrass is good for this particular type pf curry..

IF YOU CAN TAKE THE HEAT
feel free to use 2 tsb curry powder ( babas) and 1 tsb tumeric powder

6) MIX MIX MIX or it will burn
7) after a bit ( 1 minute or so) the powder will stick to the chicken...
8) pour water in until the chichen is 2 cm under the water..
9) mix a bit and cover it..let it simmer
10) keep checking it and mix every 5 minutes or so... KEEP IT COVERED!!! put in the tomatoes a few minutes later
11) the water level will recede to the chickens level.. and that should mean that its done..

Try It.. Its my very own recipe and i cook it twice a week at home.... hope you like it...

THE FIRST DAY OF CNY 08

Gah!!! I woke up late.. i had an invitation from a friend to go to his house.. never drink too much, u end up having a hangover.. anyway, i went to his house and had some lunch.. late lunch cause i almost got lost on the way, NO THANKS TO HIS FRIENDS YAPPING AND SQUEALING IN THE BACKGROUND!!! haha, but it all turned out well. i felt bad because i had to leave early and sign in to my crappy job..
actually chinese new year is thata time of the year where you get to meet friends, eat out, enjoy a good ( unless you are at my place) fireworks display and just hang out, or as Malaysians say it, LEPAK!!!! it was a nice day in all, except for the part where some gay indonesian dude kept trying to whack my ass at work... it aint even a nice arse.. dang.. that still gives me the goosepimples. luckily i managed to make it clear that i was not gay, my gf paid me a visit.. (talk about a close save...)

Recipe of the Day....

Moist Butter Cake
250 g sugar
250 g BLUE KEY SELF RAISING FLOUR( it dont turn out as well if you use other flour)
250 g Butter( plain)
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
5 medium size eggs

just mix the eggs, sugar and butter together until its a nice texture, not too chunky and as fine as possible. (i suggest softening the butter as its easier to mix and break the eggs separately over a different container before putting in the mix as it avoids a rotten egg spoiling your cake). after that add the vanilla and slowly add the flour a little at a time( it dont spray that much..) to know if the batter is ready, just use a spatula to scoop some and pour it back. it shouldnt plop in all at once or be too runny. it will slide off the spatula little by little and it will be a bit sticky. pour it into a 20 cm baking pan and put into a preheated oven at medium heat. after you start smelling the cake, reduce the heat BUT DO NOT TURN IT ALL THE WAY DOWN. a little is enough. poke it with a fork and the top should be nice and crusty while the for should come out clean. decor is up to you.. have fun
